Google recently showcased several advanced capabilities for Gemini. While many of those features have yet to arrive, Gemini Live has received a new capability that makes the AI assistant more contextual and helpful. The feature is rolling out to compatible Android devices, including Galaxy phones and tablets.
Gemini Live now has access to Memory (via 9To5Google), which means it can use information from your past conversations to provide more personalized and contextual responses. It can also access data from connected apps and services. This feature first appeared shortly after the Google I/O 2026 developer conference last month and now appears to be rolling out to some users in the US.
Google says Gemini Live is now integrated into your chats, allowing you to seamlessly switch between speaking and typing when interacting with the AI assistant. Gemini Live can also provide visual information in real time, including location details from Google Maps, weather cards, and photos from Google Photos.
With Memory access, Gemini Live is now nearly as capable as the standard Gemini experience. For those unfamiliar with Gemini Live, it is a version of Gemini that can view what’s on your phone’s screen or use your device’s camera to understand your surroundings. It can then answer questions, provide contextual information, and offer assistance based on what it sees.
